Welcome Rio del Norte Students and Families!
Welcome Rio del Norte Eagle Families to our 2024-2025 school year!
I am so thrilled to join the Eagles nest as your new principal and provide continued leadership building a community of life-long learners.
We, as your partners in your child’s education, are on a mission this school year to improve student learning. We invite you to join us in creating actionable and measurable plans for your child’s learning. This often includes planning a change, trying it, observing the results, and acting on what is learned. Throughout the district, we have used this method known as the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle when testing a change for action-oriented learning. We look forward to planning measurable goals with you and your child to improve student learning and outcomes for all learners.
We also plan to continue and improve our focus on literacy skills, mathematics learning, English learner literacy development, and writing. Let’s start with writing everyday, for example, as a plan to study improvement in literacy skills. I have set a goal for myself to write everyday in the form of journaling or reflective writing. I look forward to studying how this will improve my writing skills and communications and serve as a model for collective learning.
Rio del Norte thrives on shared leadership including your support and collaboration as our parent community. We invite you to connect with your child’s teacher and our school leadership, including our partners in expanded learning programs, to explore ways to support our programs. Our community has great strengths and assets which could positively impact our student learning and wellness when we are connected. As a working mother of two and graduate student, I understand there are ways I can support my child’s school programs or classroom in more creative ways than in-person volunteering. We invite your creative ideas when seeking volunteer opportunities.
I look forward to sharing more of our spotlights and features throughout the year via weekly memos and Eagle FLY-ers. In this digital age, we benefit from shared communications; I plan to use our Parent Square messaging application to send general messages and school events information via email, for example.
Again, we thank you for this opportunity to partner with you and your child in what will be a great year of student learning and outcomes.
